Problems with Public Schools

Public schools are difficult environments for students today. Violence, drugs, bullying, and peer pressure infect the halls and classrooms. The administration is often powerless to stop such problems, and teachers no longer have the authority to teach the moral and religious values that might help to stop to such behavior. Instead, teachers have to focus on the stringent government-mandated curriculum that will help students pass narrow standardized tests. If students do not receive the expected test scores, teachers can often be disciplined, and public schools can lose critical government funding. Instead of focusing on holistic education and helping students who need individual attention, public school teachers must devote their total efforts to teaching material that will appear on standardized tests in the spring. Because such an environment is difficult for many children, especially those who need more individual attention, many parents have turned to private schools, hoping that they will provide their children with a more positive and well-rounded educational experience.

Problems with Private Schools

Unfortunately, private schools do not solve all of the problems that children face in public schools. Many children whose behavior problems have led to their expulsion from several public schools systems now have to attend private schools. Parents who are concerned about their children’s behavior and susceptibility to peer pressure may enroll them in religious private schools with the hope that the more positive environment will help to correct their problems. Unfortunately, these children often meet other students who have come to private school for similar reasons, and they may encounter even more trouble among these new friends. Private schools also typically maintain the same traditional classroom environment that public schools have, so children who need individual attention may still need some extra help in order to reach their fullest academic potential. Although private schooling does allow for religious and moral instruction, parents may find that the expensive tuition they pay may not buy a better educational environment than their children experienced in public school.

Online Private Schools

For parents who are concerned about their children’s safety or for students who need extra attention that they cannot receive in a traditional classroom, an online private school may be the best option. One such online private school is imaginethefuturek12, a program that allows children to receive a quality education over the web. Families who use imaginethefuturek12 adopt a model similar to home schooling, in that the children receive their primary instruction at home. Students download lectures, submit assignments via the Internet, and chat with professors and fellow classmates online. The program gives children the flexibility they need to work more at their own pace, and having parents working alongside them will give them the individual attention they need. Because imaginethefuturek12 is conducted entirely online, parents have the option of incorporating extra elements into their children’s education. Trips to museums or other cultural centers provide supplemental materials for lectures, and parents can also add moral or religious training to their children’s educational program.

Online private schools such as imaginethefuturek12 are truly the best of both worlds because parents can rest assured that they have provided their children with a quality education in a safe and secure environment. These students can once again focus on the joy of learning and will prepare themselves for great success in the future!
